Interpretation of the Maroon 5's Song "Moves Like Jagger"

Summary
Moves Like Jagger = Not Dance Moves
Mick Jagger doesn't dance well, but he can pull some tricks with the girls. He can capture any woman even at his old age.

The song is about flirting and pulling the moves on women, making them believe that the relationship is about 'em girls, but they're just tricks/flings/trophies for these player guys.

Interpretation of Foster the People's song "Pumped Up Kick"

All the other kids with the PUMPED UP KICKS
= kids with New Shoes
=kids with great future ahead of them
= kids who used to picked on him

SUMMARY

READING Between the LINES

The Song is about Robert, a cowboy acting kid who found a gun is his cold loving father's closet. He's lost his reasoning, and took that gun and chased the kids who used to pick on him.

Reading Beyond the LINES

The song is about Robert, a confused kid. He doesn't know what's right from wrong, and he feels so unloved by his father. He was always so observant, that one day he discovered about his father's secret that cracked him open. All the pain everyone inflicted on him and all the lack of attention by his father made him burst out into anger. And he's gonna throw all his anger to all the other kids who he envies the most, them with functional parents, and them with bright futures ahead of them. Unlike himself.

Interpretation of Lady Gaga's song "You and I"

Background
Lady Gaga had an on-and-off, on-and-off again relationship with Luc Carl, who owns a bar, and is a bartender in Nebraska. They've been together for six years until Lady Gaga got her break to be this ultimate pop star, and she had to let him go.

Lady Gaga wrote this song because of a dare. Someone dared her to write a hit song in ten minutes. And so she did.

Summary

This song is about leaving someone for something more special and when you've gone so far, you realize how you have been with the most important thing in the world and so you turn back. You turn back to the one you left, hoping and wishing there's still something to return to/ to welcome you back. The song is really open-ended, it really doesn't say if they got back together. But It says in the end that there's "
something about just knowing when it's right". It somehow entails how you know you two are for each other, and you may not be together now, one day you will be together, Because you know that what you have is right.

Interpretation of Amy Winehouse's song "Tears Dry on Their Own"

Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry On Their Own by AmyWinehouse

Summary

This beautiful song is about loving someone who doesn't love you back, or a bad romance. And the hard thing about this song's story is that the person she loves is using her feelings for him to take advantage of her. She regrets everything that she's done with him but whenever they're together she just forgets everything. She feels that love is being foolish. And If she's gonna be a fool, better be fool for the one she loves. But in the latter part of the song, she decides to choose herself. She left him. It was painful for her, yes. But she's looking forward to finding her mr. right.

Interpretation of Green day's song "21 guns"

Summary

The song is about fighting a good fight, but not the fights unworthy of fighting for. You only got one life, and just one 21 gun salute, avail of it. Live your life an honorable life and give up the petty things.

You should know what/who you are living for. Live for yourself. If you're living for someone else, what will happen to you if that person leaves you? And you can't run to your family and friends anymore because they've already warned you of that predicament, and running to them would only mean eating your pride and proving them right. You'll just be alone. And all you'd be are ruins. Ruins of what you and your significant other used to be.

Interpretation of Katy Perry's song "ET"

Summary

Reading between the lines

This song is about a girl who met this foreign guy online, and then fell in love with him. She experienced things with him that she has never even thought would happen to her and made her want to leave everything she has in her country, just to be with him.

Reading beyond the lines

This song is about loving someone who people think is out of your league. But you love that someone so much that you are willing to lose everything that you have and don't mind everything that people say about that person because you know that you love that person. And you're sure that that person loves you too. And you feel like everything is magical, mystical and very out of this world. That is how you feel when you're really in love, when the words and adjectives in the world cannot describe how it feels like.

Being in LOVE with someone is light years away from being in a relationship with someone.

Interpretation of Lady Gaga's song Born This Way

Summary
The song is very straight forward with its meaning, compared to Lady Gaga's other songs which are embellished with a lot of metaphors. Love yourself. Have faith in yourself. Accept yourself because you were born that way. And you were born in God's likeness, therefore you are perfect.

Interpretation of Lady Gaga's Song Hair

Summary

Basically, this song is about finding who you really are and sticking to it. You can change your style, personality, image, appearance, spiritual and emotional until you find who you really are .And when you're sure of yourself, hold on to that and never let go. Fight to the death to keep yourself true to you. Never let other people's judgments get to you, because you are the only one who must decide for yourself.

Interpretation of Katy Perry's song "Teenage Dream"

Summary

The song is a dream(a daydream) of a girl who wants to find a sensible man who'll respect her, accept her downs and love her ups. A man who loves her no matter how she looks. The man she'll introduce to her family. And she's picturing her crush(possibly a jock-like in the video) to be that one.

Truly the dream of every teenager.

Interpretion of Far East Movement's song "Like a G6"

I

"Poppin bottles in the ice, like a blizzard
When we drink we do it right gettin slizzard
Sippin sizzurp in my ride, like Three 6
Now I'm feelin so fly like a G6
Like a G6, Like a G6
Now I'm feelin so fly like a G6"

(Line 1) Popping bottles in the ice- shows an image of oppening bottles in an ice bucket

Like a blizzard- could mean that their drinks are as cold as a blizzard or that their drinks are so many that is figuratively raining with cold beverages....Or it could mean both...that they have a lot of very cold drinks...

(Line 2) They don't just drink casually, they drink to get intoxicated(Slizzard)

(Line 3) They're playing the song"Sippin' on syrup" from the band " Three six mafia"

(Line 4) [G6- is the Gulfstream Jet G650, the coolest and fastest civilian jet available]

They stating that they're as fly(cool) as a Jet.

II

"Gimme that Mo-Moet
Gimme that Cry-Crystal
Ladies love my style, at my table gettin wild
Get them bottles poppin, we get that drip and that drop
Now give me 2 more bottles cuz you know it don't stop"

(Line 1,2) [Crystal Meth- a type of methanpetamine drug.]

They want some drugs.

(Line 3) Shows an image of drunk girls dancing in his table.

(Line 4) [bottle poppin' is a ghetto explicit term for sexual intercourse,

We get that drip and that drop- they're licking each other off]

(Line 5)[ 2 bottles- his drink and his friend's]

III

"Sippin on, sippin on sizz, Ima ma-make it fizz
Girl i keep it gangsta, poppin bottles at the crib
This is how we live, every single night
Take that bottle to the head, and let me see you fly"

(Line 1) [Sizz- black tar heroin

fizz- to get high]

They'll be taking drugs and get high.

(Line 2) He's just being himself, and he's taking her to his home.

(Line 3) It's his lifestyle.

(Line 4) Drink all the contents in the bottle so he/she can get high as well.

IV

"Hell Yeaa
Drink it up, drink-drink it up,
When sober girls around me, they be actin like they drunk
They be actin like they drunk, actin-actin like they drunk
When sober girls around me actin-actin like they drunk"

Verse III shows how high he thinks of himself that girls wouldn't drink but would act all wild to impress him. But if he knows they're just pretending, why would he let them do those things? talk about ego huh!

V

"Its that 808 bump, make you put yo hands up
Make you put yo hands up, put yo, put yo hands up
(You can't Touch this)
Its that 808 bump, make you put yo hands up
Make you put yo hands up, put yo, put yo hands up
(You can't Touch this)
Hell Yeaaa, Make you put yo hands up, put yo put yo hands up
Hell Yeaaa, Make you put yo hands up, put yo put yo hands up"

They'll be flying to Hawaii. But why Hawaii? Because they blend right when their in Hawaii. Hawaii is a like a haven for Asians.

Summary

The song is about trying to look cool, act fly, and get all gangster even if they're Asians. [as an Archetype- we can say that they're Asians by their knowledge in planes, because most Aeronautic enthusiasts are Asians(too much discrimination on my part, sorry!)] They're dreaming of living a life of a wealthy hip hop artist(explains the drugs, the girls, being gangster, and wanting to fly to Hawaii.

Interpretation of Lady Gaga's song " Edge of Glory"

Summary

The song speaks to me of how it is to be a witness to the last moments in the life of the person you love the most. And she's not just a witness, she's a companion, and a lover.

Edge=End/border/limit

Glory=Life

Edge of Glory= Final moment in Life

Research:

"One of the songs on the album that is truly one of my favorites, it's called 'Edge of Glory' and it's kind of a sad story. Sorry to be a downer. But my grandpa died about five months ago, and my dad and I were going to say goodbye to him at the hospital, and I got out a big thing of agave tequila and my dad sat next to me at the piano and we started to doing shots back and forth, and I wrote 'Edge of Glory' on the piano and my dad and I cried. The song's about your last moment on Earth, the moment of truth, the edge of glory is that moment right before you leave the Earth. So that song can be played on the piano, but it's actually set to this giant, huge, techno rock, Springsteen-esque dance beat. I actually had Clarence Clemons from the E Street Band come in and play saxophone on it. It's fucking beautiful."

Interpretation of Katy Perry's song "Peacock"

Peacocking is a male move to dress up to drag attention from a mate, like when male peacocks look for female mates.

I

"I wanna see your peacock, cock, cock
Your peacock, cock
Your peacock, cock, cock
Your peacock ,cock"

Verse 1: [Peacock- a bird known for it's beautiful fan-like tail that it uses to find a mate/partner

cock-(cocky) a description for an overly confident person]

- This verse (for me) means that a she is invoking him to make a move on her, show her a bit of cockiness/confidence. Show her that you're interested in her.

II
"Word on the street
You got something to show me, me
Magical, colorful, Mr. Mystery
I'm intrigued for a peek
Heard it's fascinating"

(Line 1,2) She's heard that he's got a "thing" for her.

(Line 3) [magical. colorful- Love can't be described with words, in the further part of the song you'll see a lot of words that somehow (for her) describes the beauty of love

Mr. Mystery- he's being so mysterious about it and he ain't telling her anything

(Line 4,5) [intrigued for a peek- she wants him to make a move to show her that he's in to her/or she wants to know what it is to love because she's heard it's fascinating to be in love]

III
Come on, baby; let me see
What you hiding underneath
I want the jaw dropping, eye popping
Head turning, body shocking
I want my heart throbbing
Ground shaking, shoe stomping, amazing

(Line 3) Jaw dropping- thing that makes her speechless

eye popping- something she couldn't perceive to happen but happened

(Line 4) Head turning- she herself couldn't believe it that her head turns in disbelief

Body shocking- Her whole being was shocked.

(Line 5) She wants to know what it feels like to be in love with someone so strong ,that when you're near that person you suddenly get all nervous.

(Line 6)Ground Shaking- your whole world is shaken by hi presence

Shoe Stomping- and when he's passed, she'll regret that she didn't say a thing to him.

IV
"Are you brave enough to let me see your peacock?
Don't be a chicken
Boy, stop acting like a beeotch
I'mma peace out if you don't give me the payoff
Come on, baby; let me see
What you hidin' underneath"

(Line 1,2) She's asking him but more on pushing him to make a move on her.

(Line 3) Now, she's just plain angry at him for not making a move in her.

(Line 4) She's sort of black mailing him that she leave if he doesn't do what she wants.

(Line 5,6) Then she's pleading again.

V
"Are you brave enough to let me see your peacock?
What you waiting for?
It's time for you to show it off
Don't be a shy kind of guy
I bet it's beautiful
Come on, baby; let me see
What you hidin' underneath"

(Line 2,3) She's telling that this is the perfect time for him to tell her he loves her.

(Line 4,5) Stop being all shy/ stop hiding what you really feel for her, because she knows it's(Love/his feelings for her) is beautiful.

VI
"Skip the talk
Heard it all
Time to walk the walk
Break me off
If you're bad, show me who's the boss
Need some Goose to get loose
Come on; take a shot"

(Line 1,2) Stop justifying your shyness

(Line 3) It's time for him to do what he needs to do.

(Line 4,5) Break me off-shut me up

Show me who's the boss- impress me with your manliness/show me your superiority

(Line 6,7) [Goose-silly] Do you need a drink to release your silliness? If you do, then let's.

VII
"Oh my god
No exaggeration
Boy, all this time was worth the waiting
I just shed a tear
I am so unprepared
You got the finest architecture
And the rainbow-looking treasure's
Such a sight to see
And it's all for me"

(Line 1,2,3) She's very happy that he finally did it.

(Line 4,5) She almost cried, and as expected, she was shocked.

(Line 6) Its an Apostrophe. She's talking to Love, and telling that being in love is so beautiful.

(Line 7,8) Love is a treasure that made her life so colorful.

(Line 9) And she finally had it. She has finally fallen in love.

Summary

This is a song about a Girl fantasizing about his man of his dreams. She wants to know how it is to be head over heels over a man that she's wishing he'd appear to sweep her off her feet already. The song showed so much innocence with the way she described love as something so amazing as if she doesn't know the hurt that comes with love.

Watch it...

Interpretation of Cher's song "You haven't seen the Last of me"

I
"Feeling broken
Barely holding on
But there's just something so strong
Somewhere inside me
And I am down but I'll get up again
Don't count me out just yet"

(Line 1,2) She's feeling drowned with all the trials and problems that she's in to. And, she don't know if she can go on survive.
(Line 3, 4) She wants to give up but she just can't.
(Line 5,6) These lines gives an image of a boxer who got knocked down, got counted on , but got up and continued to fight. The person really believes in herself and that she could rise from the situation she is in.

II
"I've been brought down to my knees
And I've been pushed way past the point of breaking
But I can take it
I'll be back
Back on my feet
This is far from over
You haven't seen the last of me"

(Line 1) She's tired and couldn't stand, metaphor for being in a hopeless situation where she don't know where to find answers anymore.
(Line 2) She has suffered more than she can take.
(LIne 3-4) But she'll try to take more to survive.

III
"They can say that
I won't stay around
But I'm gonna stand my ground
You're not gonna stop me
You don't know me
You don't know who I am
Don't count me out so fast"

(Line 1,2) Everyone's looking down on her and telling her she can't make it.
(Line 3,4) But She's decided not to surrender.
(Line 5,6) People don't know what she's capable of.

IV
"There will be no fade out
This is not the end
I'm down now
But I'll be standing tall again
Times are hard but
I was built tough
I'm gonna show you all what I'm made of"

(Line 1,2)[ fade out- disappearing effect in songs and film] She's not giving up.
(Line 3,4) {means what it says}
(Line 5,6) Though life is hard, she knows she can take it.
(Line 7) She's gonna show everyone that she can survive all her trials.

Summary

This is a song about facing your trials in life and staying strong no matter what people say. No one will count you out in life ,but yourself. You are not a Loser if you don't say you are, so just fight because Life is about how not about how many times you fall but how you get back on your feet.

I really love this song from the movie "Burlesque", I just couldn't get song out of my mind after watching that film.
