Interpretation of Amy Winehouse's song "Back to Black"

Summary

"Back to Black" is about being in a bad romance, where only one loves another and the other half keeps on getting her hopes up but then leaves her. She dies every time he leaves her, hence going back to black.

(Line 1,2,3) He hurried his way out of their relationship, like he did before(same old safe bet). He left her again. (Kept his dick wet- means that he just used her and then ,right after, he left her that fast , that he couldn't have gotten his genitals dry yet-the explicit use of words shows her bitterness and angst)

(Line 4,5,6) She's standing up for herself(head high), stop crying(tears dry) , and she's moving on(get on without my guy)

(Line 7,8) He forgot what they've been through, and he left her and kept doing what he does best, womanizing.

(Line 9,10,11) She made another smashing track. And now her odds/chances are getting high. And she'll go back to her dark practices.

- This could also mean that she'll have another smashing song, then she'll get more money, and he'll go back to her, after all that moving on that she went through.

(Line 1,2) They never really separated. After they broke up, they still occasionally see each other. And it just kills her everytime he leaves.

(Line 3,4,5) He leaves her for another woman. Then she tries to move on, but she couldn't finish moving on because he keeps on showing up and then she goes back to believing that they still have a chance.

(Line 6,7,8) One way love is not enough to keep a relationship strong. They must mutually love each other, but they just couldn't because they are two very different persons. They like different things.

(Line 9,10) She's a penny trapped inside a smoky tubular object. She is trapped in a dark life and no matter how hard she tries to roll up the wall to escape, she just can't.
